Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Condon, Mike
  2. 2020 4th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Swapping 2 useless contracts but Tampa slides back a bit in the draft to clear cap space (only happens of course if they attempt to make another move)
TBL
  1. Sturtz, Andrew
  2. 2020 5th round pick (FLA)
2.
MTL
  1. Lewington, Tyler
  2. 2020 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Saw this somewhere else, Caps have a chance at the cup and will certainly go far in the playoffs, so the difference between their 1st and the Habs 2nd will only be about 8-9 spots. Caps get a mid-round pick too, Habs get a depth d-man to fill in for mounting injuries and other moves. The 4th is conditional, and doesn't get exchanged if Caps win at least one playoff series with Kovalchuk in 50% of the games
WSH
  1. Kovalchuk, Ilya
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (MTL)
  3. 2020 4th round pick (WPG)
3.
MTL
  1. Gagner, Sam
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Oilers clear cap for maybe another move, and get a defensive upgrade for their 4th line.
EDM
  1. Thompson, Nate ($250,000 retained)
4.
MTL
  1. Biega, Alex
Additional Details:
Saw someone post similar, just an injury fill-in move

Could have, but didn't. Kovalchuk has played well since joining the Habs and could fit in well with the Caps, but more importantly as I said in the trade details, since the habs send their own high 2nd, it could be no more than 7-8 spots difference in the draft.

It isn’t a straight up 1st rounder for Kovi if you look at the trade as a whole.

But you didn't "got" him, Montreal did. He'll help someone in the playoffs, and given the dearth of scoring and intensity in Washington this past month, Kovalchuk could be a much-needed lift to a third line.

I actually like the Washington trade for both teams. It is creative and realistic.
