Description

Just some ideas for the Devils shoring up holes in the lineup.

-Granlund can help Hughes if he rebounds back to a 50-60 point scorer
-Dillon adds some grit and physicality to a defense that needs it, especially on the left side
-DeMelo is a solid stay at home bottom 4 pairing guy that could allow Ty Smith to develop his offensive game at an NHL level
-Deal Miles Wood to whichever team is willing to take him. Florida is just an example
-Aaron Dell is a decent backup that is more reliable than Schneider who would be bought out
-Finally, I think the Devils go with Holtz (if available) to try and develop a natural sniper on the wing which they haven’t had since Kovalsuck

I’m not sure about the contract price tags/lengths, but this is just a general outline of moves I think could/should be made. Plus, this still leaves cap room for moves at the deadline if they are in a race for a playoff spot.

I like this....but I wouldn't want this line as our third line. Which means if they were our second line then Hughes would have to go back on the wing.

Same. That’s why I spread that line out. Gusev needs help in the D zone, which is where Nico comes in, and he’s a great playmaker for someone like Palms.

-Hughes needs experience at center, and having playmakers around him like Bratt and Granlund could help give him chances to drive the play up the middle.

-And if Holtz is the player NJ drafts, he’ll need a somewhat reliable two way center to ease him into that scoring role, playing somewhat sheltered minutes. Zacha has more playmaking ability on the 3rd line, which is the sole reason Zajac was bumped to the 4th line.
