I like Bernier and I thik is one of MANY options that will be available for the Habs, whenever UFA signings occure. I see no point in trading for him at this point. IF - and that's a big IF - play resumes and Habs make the playoffs, Price will be rested and would get all the starts. If he gets injured, no backup is good enough to carry the team to the Cup anyways...

The reason I said it would happen in the next 2 weeks is because Fonstad’s rights expire on June 1st. We could make a trade later, but then we would probably end up needing to give up a higher pick, which I wouldn’t love.

And the reason I want to trade for Bernier is because IMO, he’s the better than most backups on the UFA market.

I understand your position. But why « pay » a 4th + Lindren to « not lose » Fonstad? I get that Bernier is an updrate at backup over Lindgren. But is Bernier really that much better than the other options available as UFAs? Or even via trade, for that matter...

Sure, but you’re not going to trade for any decent backups for as cheap as Bernier. Plus I’m willing to give up a 4th so that we can get a good backup at a good dollar value for 1 year.

I say STL would part ways with Allen quite cheap if the Cap is flat or regresses...
