With the draft lottery over and we now know we are picking 3 and 5 and then somewhere in the later 1st round with the NYI pick (assuming they dont win the next lottery) Here is what I would like and expect to see.

3rd OA - Tim Stutzle - It's safe to say LA will go with the big body Byfield it fits their team and style more than Stutzle does. Although he is on the smaller size his work ethic i think fits that style of player Ottawa is looking for doesn't take a shift off works hard for the puck and not afraid to have it on his stick I could see this playing well with Tkachuk.

5th OA - Lots of people say take Drysdale if available due to our Right side depth, although i dont disagree with the talent of Drysdale offensively we have Chabot and Brannstrom what we need is a bigger body on that right side less offensive and more of a 2 way D (Personal opinion) so I think we pull the trigger on Marco Rossi - Gives us a quality 1C guy and someone who instantly comes with a chance to slot in even above L. Brown and Norris.

With that later 1st round pick depending on final slotting I could see us bundling a 2nd round + our NYI pick to move up a little bit to pick Justin Barron hes a Right shot Defenceman whose 6'2 so with a few years of growth left could finish in around 6'3 - 6'4 gives us that Right shot D with some size has a good shot and can play the PP. Gives us almost a JBD 2.0 based on size and offensive numbers who also plays the right side.

Will i be disappointed if Ottawa takes Drysdale no... but i do also feel like the Right side is less problematic than our Top 6 talent level and having the opportunity to take 2 high end forwards AND get a decent Right shot D later in the 1st would be more ideal.

Lines are more just seeing what things could look like and don't reflect what will likely be a few younger people being sent down to Belleville for the beginning of the year and potentially trading or signing 1-2 veteran players to help guide all of the young talent we have. That and we still have to be cap compliant lol.

Although I know people want us to make a big splash and do something crazy with all our cap space I think staying the course is the right move and with proper development this team in 2-3 years could be very very good. Remember we still have 3 additional 2nd round picks (assume we bundled 1 with the NYI 1st to move up) and 2 3rd round picks which with Ottawas draft history could be very good picks 2-3 years down the road as well.
