NYR
  1. Virtanen, Jake [RFA Rights]
  2. 2020 7th round pick (ANA)
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Would Vancouver take Georgiev to play with Demko. Obviously signing Markstrom is a priority. But what if they went a cheaper route with a young, capable tandem. Saves a bit of money and would allow them to sign Toffoli, and gives them more cap freedom in general. Im not saying Georgiev can step in and be Markstrom, and they would have to pay up for Georgiev's rights, but I think this is an option they could explore to save some money. Georgiev could be signed short term for 1.8-2.2. Markstrom would be Long term and probably 5 minimum.
VAN
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Could see Rangers wanting Virtanen in a deal for Georgie...previously rumored Rangers wanted a north-south type winger, NHL ready, for Georgiev. Either him OR the picks perhaps?

I think they would consider it for the picks but it really comes down to the fact who the Canucks value more Markstrom or Toffoli

easy no.

Virtanen finally played an ok season

Vancouver does not need a goalie, as they would also have Di Pietro, but I think Markström will resign. And don't forget the expansion draft

Yea of course, which I think would be Markstrom, but at the same time, it has a lot to do with faith they have in Demko/Georgiev. They might deem Markstrom expendable if they bring in a guy with potential. We know VAN thinks Toffoli rounds out their top 6 pretty perfectly... Its all about cost-effective replacement when up against the cap like they are

Read the Rangers side...pick(s) instead? I think Georgiev is an upgrade from DiPietro..And one of their goalies would be exposed no matter what at the expansion draft....Protect Markstrom, expose Demko, or, protect Demko/Georgiev and expose the other...Either way a goalie has to be exposed

That's a lot to give up for a guy you'll lose in the expansion draft anyways.

I think it makes more sense to trade Georgiev to a team that doesn't need to protect another goalie; like San Jose.
sens2020 liked this.
