Has Stan been asleep at the wheel? Or are FA not interested in Chicago? They missed out on at least three reasonable cap hits in Vermette, Vesey and now Hudler. They also lost Shaw and Teravainen from last season, and most likely will replace them with 4-5 rookies, not exactly Quenneville's ideal kind of roster. The Campbell signing will improve and stabilize the blue line, TVR will be a year older so the defense seems to be okay. Hossa needs to regain his scoring touch or the young guys need to play out of their minds for this team to make a deeper, more significant run. And stay healthy!

Vermette is not good anymore and was benched by Q - it was likely mutual disinterest.

Vesey decided he wanted to play with his best friend Kevin Hayes. The fact that he was close to the Hayes brothers, who do not speak highly of the Hawks due to Jimmy being traded (rightfully), means it was a testament that Vesey was still even considering the Hawks for so long.

And Hudler and Nill are connected through their days in Detroit and he's close to Hemsky.
