I don't really see why Toronto should do it, they both have similar ceilings as a #4 but 1 is expansion exempt while the other isn't. Leafs should probably just keep Lily

Cernak is a good 2nd pairing shutdown defensemen. Lily is taking too long and even if he reaches his potential he wont be what we need. Besides losing Dermott to expansion wouldn't be a big deal.

And Cernak will cost 3m~ next year.

Im a Bolts fan and Cernak is a #4, don't overrate him. He will not be the difference in making your team better defensively, especially considering Liljegren is a good shutdown guy too. What the Leafs need is either for Rielly to step up and be a Norris caliber defense or go out and get one like Ellis/Pietrangelo
