Description

Trade JVR to eliminate his cap hit, Carter only has two years left which frees up space with him and Niskanen coming off the books in 2022 and 2021 respectively. Entice the kings with a few extra picks for their rebuild, could be subbed with some mid tier current prospects.

Carter brings a depth presence in a fourth line role and gets bumped to the third line should Nolan not be ready to go

Expose Ghost and Voracek to Seattle and hope one of them goes and open up another 4-8 million going into the 2022

Opening up 24-28 Million in space to re-sign Laughton, Hart, Sanheim, and replacements for Niskanen, Raffl and other depth pieces in 2022.

Carter could be bought out after next season for more savings if needed

Kings pass. They can fit Carter's contract for the remaining years. JVRs extra term would take up significant space during the years when the Kings top prospects need extensions.

A couple mid/late round picks and/or mediocre prospects isn't worth that risk.
