Vegas doesn't even think about it. Trading Martinez and Smith separately nets them a much bigger haul and the added bonus of not having Ristolainen on their team...

This is mostly to create cap space for Pietrangelo. Their top 4 D would be Theodore-Petey, Schmidt-Risto. That's pretty damn good but I'm not sure how else they get the cap to do it

Three out of 4 would be damn good. And then Ristolainen.

No team has to take on all the cap. In your trade it's 16 for 8. Net 8 mil.

Trade Smith to on team. Trade Martinez to another. Out goes 9 mil. Prospects/picks come back.

A top 4 of Theodore-Petey, Schmidt-anyone not named Ristolainen is pretty damn good....
