There aren't too many teams with the space left to take it on, unfortunately, and the buyout isn't great...

I'd say Ottawa, LA, and Detroit are three of the only teams left that *could* take it on, which limits the ability to move him without taking back something even remotely close. I don't know if a 1st would do it anymore, unfortunately. Benning sat on his hands too long...should have tried to get something done before everyone started wheeling and dealing, making the Schmidt trade/Holtby singing even more questionable (Though Schmidt is good, and they needed help on the back end).

Probably easier to try to move Sutter at this point.

    Wow...relax!
Pearson at 2.6M? He'll happily walk into FA. IMO the Canucks will not extend him.

Next year the Canucks will be in better position to trade away Eriksson for A LOT less. Staal was traded for a 2nd this year. Eriksson will be comparable. On top of that, if the Canucks happen to buy him out its 2M in savings for 21-22 season, then 1M applied to the following season.

Trading away picks is not the answer especially for a club that will be close to the cap after resigning Petey and Hughes
