i feel like we need to split up the monahan, gaudreau and lindholm line. JG an SM play with each other very well so I think lindholm ends up being the guy that needs to move. my theory is a guy like levio or potentially even Simon could play on the top line and keep pace with the top talent. they may not necessarily have the skill to be a top line guy but they do have the grind and positioning that they could be the tip in or shooter that a JG and SM pairing needs.

This moves lindholm to the second line where combined with backlund and tkachuk could be one of the deadliest shutdown lines in the league. the pairing of tkachuk and backlund has proven that they can play against other teams top lines while also contributing offensively. adding lindholm to that does nothing but improve it. i do think it will take sometime for this line to build chemistry but once they do they could be elite.

third line becomes bennett, dube and Mangiapane. two up and coming talented wingers with a very gritty centre who is good around the net. this line might struggle defensively but could be supplemented with nordstrom or simon if needed

4th line becomes the grinderline. any mix of simon, levio, nordstom with lucic and ryan provides a good veteran 4th with some grit and speed combined. ryans defensive capabilites could make up for lucics speed and lucic makes up for ryans size
