That’s because they are doing a fail attempt of rebuilding. I think they are trying to make the older players mad, so they want a trade, and lower the list of teams they are willing to go to.

Or they expect to find a goalie of waivers? but with the taxi squad all teams will have 3-4 NHL goalies, so a teams 4th-5th stringer won't help.
