Trade Deadline deal Move Barrie while he has value

I’m not against this type of trade but am against taking the risk behind it with Calgary. If get burnt by it by any other team results would be the same just sting less. It’s unfortunate turris has sucked enough to make this type of trade a talking point.

I mean, with Tanev and Ras on RD, Calgary has a similar problem in that we have no use for him

Flames have had Giordano, Andersson and Valimaki all QB a power play this year, there is no room to bring in Barrie. Would much rather have Nesterov or Mackey fill in the bottom pairing at nearly the minimum.

I think one of the reasons that Barrie is looking good this year is that he's being showcased for what he is, which is an offensive d. It makes sense he would thrive on a pp with McDavid and Drai. Problem is, none of his offensive numbers can hide that he isn't all that great at defending and can't really be trusted in the top 4. I realize to the Oilers he holds value right now but I'm not sure how much value any of the other Canadian teams see in him since every team has at least one great option to QB a pp. If Barrie were to be traded, I'd say it won't be to a team in the same division. With quarantine rules and how important the points are in the standings, I doubt Oilers risk playing two weeks without Barrie AND whatever incoming help would result from a hypothetical trade.
