They get Grandlund and Bennett. Why would that cost them a 1st? This would also put them over the cap. Why would they not just trade directly with NSH for Grandlund where NSH takes half the salary back?

Granlund at the deadline will cost a good pick, the Leafs pick should be 25-32, that isn't a steep price to pay for an efficient middle six winger for example, Coleman, Goodrow, Pageau, Kase, Toffoli etc etc.. I don't know what value you are giving to the Leafs first rounder but Granlund+ would be worth that pick every day.
