Myers contract is way worst than OEL’s, sure OEL is longer and a little heftier but he’s a little bit younger and way better, OEL contract finishes when he’s 36 and Myers when he’s 35. Kessel, Roussel and Loui have the same amount of term. Ari gets 3 million more for basically AHL’ers, while Kessel is Ari leading point scorer.

Ekman-Larson is scoring at a 50 point pace this year and Kessel leads the team in goals on a 30 goal pace. Vancouver needs to add by a lot. Plus OEL said he is not going to waive his NMC

Fair enough, but the premise of this trade is that OEL's contract and Myers' contract are similarly bad (OEL because he's way overpaid, Myers because he's bad and overpaid), but the value to Arizona is in the $21 million in savings.

FWIW Myers turns 34 in the last year of his deal, not 35.
