Description
This scenario assumes Drouin's ailment is explained and there is confidence that he has put it behind him. If not, he is placed on LTIR and Habs add another high-level winger via trade or UFA.

Kraken received incentives to take Byron in the expansion draft in the form of Jordan Harris and a 4th-round pick.

Montreal got great service from Eric Staal and I'd have no qualms about re-signing him. That said, I've always thought Jeff Carter should have been a Canadiens player and have never got over the STUPID decision to draft Andrei Kostitshyn. Better late than never. Josh Brook remains a solid RD prospect (THN Future Watch #6 for Habs) who could easily step in for Ceci or Friedman. If Brook doesn't make the cut, Pens get a #2 pick in 2022.

Don't give them away or no, they're not wanted?

The Habs would still have Guhle, Norlinder, Struble and Fairbrother as excellent defensive prospects. Harris has played 3 years at Northeastern and refused to sign with the Habs this spring. That means that after next season, he will be a UFA and the Habs will get no value for him. My suspicion is that, as an American, he is not interested in signing in Canada. I think any defenceman would be excited to go to Seattle, where he will have a chance to play almost immediately.

Brook is a very good prospect, but Habs have no place on the roster for him. Weber and Petry are still there on the RHD, and Brook would have to clear waivers next year to be sent down. Having watched Juulsen taken with no compensation, I would rather use Brook to secure a solid veteran centremen than risk losing him for nothing.
