Description
Let me preface this by saying that there’s no way this will happen. Leafs would be dumb to trade Marner, because 100 point players don’t grow on trees and they will lose any trade that he’s involved in. That being said he’s been linked (on this site, with no sources) to the coyotes. So here’s the Coyotes best offer.

Don’t ask to include Chychrun or Soderstrom because they’re not available. Hayton is not available for trade for a winger either. As you can see this trade does not fit the Coyotes timeline because it would cost a ton of draft/prospect capital that they already sorely lack.

In conclusion, this offer will get outbid if he’s actually moved, this is more of a price check on you depressed Leafs fans saying he’s trash and then trading him for every valuable asset we have.

  4. 2021 2nd round pick (CBJ)
  5. 2022 1st round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
-Garland probably can replicate ~80% of Marner’s production if he’s playing with either Tavares or Matthews.
-Jenik is a B+ prospect who may be able to crack the NHL roster next season.
-Emberson is a B- stay-at-home RD prospect who needs some time to develop
-pick 36 in this years draft, would Toronto’s highest pick
-top 2 protected pick that probably is in the lottery anyway because this team is devoid of talent outside of Marner.

If you really think Garland can be 80% of Marner, then this trade is a big overpayment by Arizona.

That’s fair. But just because I think that doesn’t mean the Leafs do. There would have to be some form of payment for the uncertainty associated. Garland was on pace for ~65 points this season, Marner was on pace for 100. An improvement of 15 points from Garland based on improved teammates over the course of a season doesn’t seem that unreasonable to me.

If Garland could be 75 point guy, and signs for lets says 6.5m. Gee the Leafs would be happy with Garland and the extra 4.5m in cap space. As a result, certainly the 1st round is an overpayment
