Description
1. Picking up Parayko to solidify the back end. St Louis has protection problems so there is value in adding Marino who doesn't need to be protected along with the picks.
2. Danault didn't have an outstanding season so expecting he is slightly cheaper than he was originally offered from Montreal. Regardless of his offence, great two way center who will allow for the Pens to roll with Crosby-Carter-Danault while Malkin is out, and slide Carter to the wing when he is healthy.
3. Fleury is odd man out in Vegas, they do him a solid by sending him back to Pittsburgh for a good young goalie who had a really bad playoff.

This obviously puts the Pens tight to the cap but knowing Geno is out for the first half of the season likely they can still be comfortable with this.

Downside to this roster is the lack of forward depth. Hopeful that Poulin or Zohorna are ready for a full time spot but if there are any significant injuries beyond Malkin (if this season is any indicator, there will be) this might be a team rolling 3 NHL lines and one AHL line for the first half of the season.

If the Pens are missing a piece for a run at the cup they have reasonable ammo left over in draft picks and will likely accrue a fair bit of LTIR space.

    Pettersson is worth at least a 3rd.

    I also don't think the LAK deal makes much sense for the Kings. If they weren't still in the middle of a rebuild I'd say ok, but they're still a good two or three years away from being a playoff team.

    gaudreau won't cost anymore than 1M and i wouldn't move marino AND a first for parayko. i think with vegas they could add a team like Detroit or Buffalo to retain about 2MILL for MAF and pit would send a pick to them. i think ZAR might be a guy included in a trade to VGK and the pens can get carrier whos a big body along with MAF

    I think they protect Blueger. IMO ZAR and Zucker are the most likely candidates to be selected, but yeah, I agree he'd be a good fit on the 4th to fill in if they lose someone there.
