Description
VAN-NYI Trade (inspired by https://twitter.com/TheFourthPeriod/status/1410645210267279361?s=20)

With Nate Schmidt potentially being on the block, I think NYI would be a great fit for him. We need a partner for Noah Dobson and he's been coached by Trotz before. I think VAN would agree to take Ladd in this situation. He has two less years on his deal and a lower cap hit. As a thank you for taking Ladd, and giving VAN some value, they get Bellows and a 2022 2nd round pick. We'll also take on Antoine Roussel at the cost of a 2023 3rd round pick, but those can be taken out if VAN would rather just keep Roussel and the pick.

NYI buys out Roussel to save $1.3M more on the cap.

---

EDM-NYI Trade (inspired by https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2512449)

EDM gets Semyon Varlamov, a starting goalie, and Nick Leddy, a top-4 LHD. NYI gets Tyler Benson and Cooper Marody, two somewhat overaged prospects, Alex Stalock, a backup goalie, and a 2022 2nd round pick. NYI clears cap space, EDM rounds out their roster.

---

Expansion

Jordan Eberle gets claimed by Seattle. Their other options would be Nate Schmidt, Cal Clutterbuck, Michale Dal Colle, Otto Koivula, or Ross Johnston. Eberle gives them a veteran scorer at a reasonable contract, and could end up at least wearing an A. I can see him having a David Perron-like impact on an expansion team. To entice SEA to take his contract, NYI sends him a 3rd round pick as well.

With Eberle's spot available, NYI is able to re-sign Kyle Palmieri. I can see Palmieri taking a one-year deal now to cash out next off-season, and play another season on a contender.

---

TOR-NYI Deal (inspired https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2518655)

Change of scenery deal. Isles get Ilya Mikheyev and Travis Dermott, two players who have slightly regressed but could fill needs on NYI. TOR gets Michael Dal Colle, a former top-5 pick with some potential if given the right opportunity, and a 2023 3rd round pick.

VAN decline, that move doesn't make any sense for them.

Should be a yes from Toronto assuming Dermott doesn’t get taken by Seattle
