Description
Yandle's contract may be high but Wings will need to slightly overpay to attract free agents. A short term deal for a D who can help QB the powerplay until guys like Seider and McIsaac, etc are ready.

Selecting probably Clarke or Edvinsson at 6 then Wallstedt at 9. Crapshoot draft is perfect time to select goalie of the future especially after losing Petruzzeli and already taking a safer pick at 6 makes sense to me.

Obviously the trades and contracts would be tweaked in real life but I'm laying out a scenario where Detroit fields a competitive team but can move some vets at the deadline if they are still selling and have cap space to boot. Raymond, Berggren, McIsaac make the team by season's end or 2022, so this theoretically works out roster space wise.

Taking on Loui's contract and moving up in the first round for some sweeteners. Maybe it's the 3rd round instead of the 5th.

    1. Niederreiter, Nino
    2. 2022 2nd round pick (CAR)
    Additional Details:
Reuniting Gino with his bro and taking on an expiring contract player who produces very well. Trade is done after draft so acquiring a pick to make up for Bertuzzi still being an RFA as opposed to Nino's status helps.

    Additional Details:
Assuming Nashville isn't on Nielsen's modified no-trade list, they take an expiring contract with less money to make the cap work out for Johansen.

Pick is probably a bit high in Canes deal for my liking but an interesting trade nonetheless.

Yeah, I could see it working out to be a 3rd or later as well. Figured it was in the ballpark since Nino is a pending UFA and Tyler is still an RFA.

I bet you could get Johansen for pennies if you didn't send Neilson back. Just bury his contract to make the cap space work. Nashville might even give you something for taking his full deal, although he's still a decent player or probably isn't much. But he should be had for alot cheaper than that, not like I think Chowlowski is all that great right now.
Not a huge fan of the Bertuzzi trade as niño could walk after this season, then you literally got nothing for Bertuzzi.
I don't mind the Yandle signing and I like they Vancouver trade although I doubt they go for it, they should though if they want to compete this year and with them being linked to Hyman they need the space now.
