Description

-I really don't think Seattle will take Price, especially with the Driedger signing.
-Weber will be on LTIR and Price on IR for most of the season.
-The Petterson rumors arent realistic, best case scenario it ends up like the Aho situation and we miss out on good free agents.
-Hoffman just had a bad season with STL and I dont want any drama in the lockerroom. Tarasenko has barely played in the last 2 years, might as well go for Laine. (or Rakell, but I have a feeling Laine's wont stay in Colombus for long. Bigger risk, bigger reward).
-Stastny was great with Elhers in WPG last season, he could be a great pick up to fill Danault's spot and play with Laine. Laine could focus on offense while Stastny and Gallagher handle the defensive side and backcheck.
-Last playoffs exposed a big weakness: our D core isnt mobile enough. I'd sign Martinez to a 3yr deal and get Ristolainen for cheap and retained salary. Worst case scenario we let him walk next summer.
-Glendening is a faceoff beast and could be a much needed addition with Danault gone. I don't really trust KK and Phoeling yet.
-Give Romanov more minutes, he has to play if we want him to improve.
-Bring back Halak while Price is injured.
-Stastny, Risto and Chiarot are UFAs next summer, plenty enough to lock up Suzuki and give Romanov a bridge deal. Give a shot to Jordan Harris and Norlinder next year.

Buffalo wouldn't retain that much for that little of a return. Basically a fourth, the second to last pick, and a 4th liner. I doubt they accept it, even if there was no retainment.

I also doubt CBJ accepts that. It's a potential Drouin, who the odds look like he will never be above a 3rd liner, a couple meh prospects, and an early 2nd and 3rd. Laine may not have much stock these days, but its definitely much more than that.

Yeah the risto trade would probably be a 2nd pick, as for Laine I think its pretty good assets for a rebuilding team. Drouin is just there to match salaries and could be flipped for a pick. MTL would probably need to throw a 2nd in there with Mysak instead of Ylonen, but Ylonen can crack their roster this year or next so im not sure. Ghule is a 1st round pick, he should be solid and they need prospects on D with Jones leaving. They basically get 3 prospects, 2 picks and whatever they can get for Drouin (Id argue hes a 2nd liner, even if he underperforms he still puts up 50pts seasons).

Pretty sure CBJ would want Kotkaniemi in the trade anyway, which I wouldve done if we could keep Danault.
