Some of the best moves this team can make is to not overreact. Our core players barzal, beau, Wally, and Dobson are all under 25 and we have some great depth pieces. Getting Anders Lee back is gonna be huge and I expect palmieri to keep up his hot streak from the playoffs now that he’s playing with barzal at his natural position. Wahlstrom and Dobson getting another year of experience is going to be an upgrade in itself for this team. I think parise can be really helpful on the power play and he won’t be relied on nearly as much as he was in Minnesota. I think this teams depth is a strength. Having uncle Leo and Zajac on the bench will be helpful with the inevitable injuries that take place this season. As long as Leo isn’t on the first line I’m fine as I think he is still a decent bottom six player. Only area I’m a little concerned about is at LD. Playing Hickey here is an interesting choice. He hasn’t played much in the last 2 years but I thought he looked good in his small sample size last year. Hopefully he can be a decent stopgap option while we wait for guys like bolduc and salo to develop. Overall I think we got better this offseason and we did so by not doing much and it doesn’t seem any of our real competition has gotten much better. We have a good team and I’m glad Lou understands that and is willing to do what’s necessary to keep them together.
