I like that Robertson is in the trade but I just feel like there needs to be a bit more, not much.
I also like that return for Leddy.

Can not see Yzerman trade Bertuzzi within the division, unless it is an overpay. Usually those kinds of trades happen when the player is in the final year of a contract. Bertuzzi has a two year deal so probably not until next year, maybe. That is one thing Leaf fans never understood. Interdivisional trades do not happen with RFA or players in contracts with term unless the trade is an overpay, which Leaf fans did not have on this site.

While that is true, teams want to get out of the basement and trading good players to a division rival and helping them is not a recipe for success. And too say they are not rivals is, well silly. Is Toronto better, of course, no question. But they are rivals, due to history and history. Teams that are rivals and helping a team within the division, like Toronto and not getting something that hurts them slightly is a mistake and that is why teams do not make such trades. Why do you think Eichel has not been traded, minus his neck injury, is the asking price. Presumably they would ask less from a western conference team then the Rangers or the Bruins.

You assume that teams are going to help Toronto to win a cup from the goodness of their hearts. Sorry examine most trades like do not happen. And even bringing it up like well Tornoto is on the top and Wings are at the basement shows the utter arrogance of most Leaf fans thinking.

wings building around their young talent is what will get them out of the basement. robertson is a better fit for their core in terms of age.

bertuzzi isn't eichel

this trade helps detriot as much as toronto.
