Description

The Islanders are now set up good for 2022-23 and beyond with contracts to players like Bailey and Varlamov expiring just as Barzal, Beauvillier and Wahlstrom will be looking for raises. They just need to stock up on prospects over the next couple drafts to continue replacing older players with ELC's and they should remain competitive for quite awhile in the right hands. This leaves room for potential additions like Ekholm and/or Forseberg/Geaudreau at the deadline. At this point, it might be a good idea to consider trading Scott Mayfield who will be looking for a big raise and is blocking Wilde.
