Trades
1.
STL
  1. Pouliot, Benoit
  2. Slepyshev, Anton
Additional Details:
Pouliot and Lehtera are the same age, same years-similar # on contract. Oilers are getting a better player, Blues receive more cap space.

Slepyshev and Jaskin are also both similar. Both are dynamic but are in bad situations. Change of scenery. Blues save money.
2.
STL
  1. Scandella, Marco
Additional Details:
Ok so listen up:

Wild get rid of a Dman that they will be losing anyways.
They get an overpaid 3/4 liner for 2 years, a prospect who can become a really good top-6 forward and a 1st.

The only problem here is taking on Pouliot. An option can be buying him out or trading him plus retaining his salary even further than it's already retained.
MIN
  1. Pouliot, Benoit ($1,200,000 retained)
  2. Sanford, Zachary
  3. 2018 1st round pick (STL)
3.
STL
  1. Duchene, Matt ($1,120,000 retained)
COL
  1. Husso, Ville
  2. Schmaltz, Jordan
  3. Sergeev, Dmitrii
  4. 2018 2nd round pick (STL)
  5. 2019 3rd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Blues send a Dman that can turn into a top pairing defensemen, a goalie that had put up really good numbers in the A, and a decent prospect.
4.
STL
  1. Greene, Matt
Additional Details:
Both have 1-year remaining. Perron costs 1 mill more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blues get Dman depth with good analytics.
LAK
  1. Perron, David
Additional Details:
LA get scoring help.
5.
STL
  1. Stuart, Mark
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Stuart's possession numbers are terrible. But the Blues save cap space with this. Has 1-year remaining.
WPG
  1. Bouwmeester, Jay
Additional Details:
Jets get a better LHD Dman for more money on a 2-year deal.
Side note: He's from Canada, so maybe he accepts a trade here.
6.
STL
  1. Calvert, Matt
  2. Jenner, Boone
Additional Details:
Every player here has 1-year remaining.
Blues get two depth players. Basically Stastny for Jenner.
CBJ
  1. Stastny, Paul
  2. 2018 5th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Jackets get a defensive minded 2nd liner C that can put up points and would play well in Torts system.
7.
STL
  1. Johnson, Jack ($973,967 retained)
Additional Details:
Has 1-year remaining.
Blues get a pretty good top-4 Dman for the year. Blues also give up more assets and will be exposed in the exp.draft.
CBJ
  1. Edmundson, Joel
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Jackets get rid of Johnson so to not lose a valuable asset in the exp.draft. In return, they get a serviceable LHD that can be left exposed and along with that they receive a 3rd.
Save cap space as well.
All of these are either bad for the Blues or the other team. There's no inbetween.
A lot going on here...
-I do like the Edmonton trade but I think Jaskin is far from "dynamic" even if he does find his game.
-Thats giving up quite a bit to get Scandella. Pretty much the Shattenkirk package and I don't think he's the same type of player as Shattenkirk.
-Colorado would want more than that for Duchene. Schmaltz is not going to be a top paring guy, and Sergeev.... They'd want someone more NHL ready (Parayko).
-No need to give up Peron especially for a guy whose played 29 games the past 2 seasons.
-The Bow trade is pretty bad for STL
-The Stastny trade makes no since either
-And why would the Blues give up one of their better young Defense Man for JJ???
None of this is any good guy....
This is where I think you went wrong.
Scandella is a good player - maybe not as good as Shatty - but yeah that might be too much for him, though you'd think Minny would ask for that much seeming as though you're dumping Pouliot to them.
No way St Louis gives up Parayko for Duchene. Colorado will get the same package as what Toronto got for Kessel. An A+ prospect and a couple of decent ones after. Schmaltz= A-, Husso= B. That is a good package for the Avs. Just some underrated names.
Point is to get Dman depth, and let the younger guys play more minutes.
Same thing. Let the younger guys play bigger minutes. And cap space clearance.
Again, let the younger/better guys play. More depth.
This one sorta goes against the above comments because the point was to get a decent veteran Dman that can play better than Ed. Columbus makes the trade knowing they lose him anyways so they basically gain a 3rd.
If you really put some thought into this.... it would make sense.
These moves would set the Blues back big time. You don't just trade guys for depth and cap space especially when you're trying to compete like the Blues are. This team is no better now or for the future.
