Quoting: Rooney
It's certainly not my first choice but I think they will still do quite well.
I'd much rather see:
Connor - Scheifele - Ehlers
Stastny - Dubois - Wheeler
Copp- Lowry - Svechnikov
Harkins - Nash - Vesalainen
Defence is exactly how I would have it as well.
I'm sure they'll be okay but they all seem flawed imo, wish I could be excited by this group but with Maurice at the helm I just doubt they'll flourish, Perfetti forcing himself into the discussion could change things big time though, he had a solid pre-season and looks more ready then I thought he would.
My concerns with the top line is its been getting outscored for years and Wheeler has looked like a 3rd liner for a long time already, his pre-season wasn't amazing either.
As for line two I have doubts about Copp being a top six talent, can he repeat what he did last season now that things are back to normal, if he can that'll go a big way towards the Jets being successful.
Can Lowry keep the offense flowing or does he regress back to being a 20-25 point range, if he does then I don't see it as an effective line and the other two guys on it probably won't be having very good seasons either.
As for line four well as 4th line on a Maurice coached team makes little difference since he doesn't play them much, having said that I don't see those three as being very like minded players so not sure how much they'll get done in their 5-8 minutes of ice time.
So we'll see, they'll be a better team no doubt and the Western Conference looks wide open so anything is possible, just not sure that these lines will be effective and just don't see Maurice making the necessary adjustments or even giving some other things a try to see what or who might work, also even if he does will he give them enough time to really evaluate them, history says he'll just go back to the same thing he's been doing for years, unfortunately he's really the coaching definition of insanity.
