    Please don't tear me apart EDM fans, this is simply an idea from Canes perspective

    you never see offersheets anymore but could this be the year?

    I don't think it would happen but it's a great idea he'd be your #1 centre but for two reason you won't get him

    1. He's running the show with Mcdavid an I don't think he'd even want to leave ever

    2. He just won't get trade ahah

    But I also think you're overpaying him

    He is not trading him he is going after him via an Offer sheet. Therefore Edmonton would have to match it and if they didn't and he signed in Carolina then carolina would forfeit the picks to EDM. It is possible, the Caps and the Oil are both going to be in cap trouble. The oilers not till next year as they have a lot of contracts that may handcuff them and the caps next year for sure. This may be the off season we see the offer sheet used again. Don't count out an offer sheet out of phoenix either.

    It's not a trade. Picks are compensation for signing him as an RFA.

    I like the idea a lot for the Canes, but they're gonna be hurt long term unless they can figure out how to get rid of Staal's contract.
