Description
This trade is ONLY if Guerin and the Wild think Dvorak could help them at C. With his contract term, they would have to choose 2 of the 4 following players (Dvorak, Fiala, Dumba, and Greenway) for the 2022 roster for cap reasons. If they think Dvorak is NOT what they want at C, they can trade him in the off season, BUT, they will NOT get as much back as they gave up. Maybe better than giving up a 1st and a 2nd for a "PURE" rental that is gone at the end of the season, but the gamble on Dvorak is he's not as "GOOD" as some pure rentals and you have the term on his contract to worry about with our cap crunch coming in 2022. Then, if Dvorak fits you have the problem of subtracting someone else off the roster for 2022 for cap reasons. SO what do you do? The SAME scenerio as if you want to add JT Miller in a trade, albeit you would be giving up less to get Dvorak. The cap does work for the remainder of this season without subtracting anybody from the current roster. AND MAYBE I have the cost to acquire Dvorak higher than it should be. Hard to know the going rate.

Dvorak for Dumba if you're prepared to run with Addison. If Montreal is giving up Dvorak so soon, it only makes sense if it addresses another need (RD).

Dumba has more value than Christian Davorik and he's not getting moved during the season, might not during the offseason either, probably fiala. Montreal overpay for Christian, and won't get same value back

Might need balancing, but Montreal's not taking a loss on Dvorak. Original proposal is a 1st and 2nd here, works if Montreal is just looking to recoup their assets.
I'm just suggesting it might make more sense to make a hockey trade. If Dumba is no longer needed and they can make a lateral move while saving cap, perhaps they can find a way to keep Fiala.

We aren't trading dumba during the season. Not sure dumba will be available

That's fine because Montreal doesn't need to worry about it this year either. The impetus would be whether Minnesota can or will extend Dumba.
