If Jim:
- Drafted Tkachuk over Juolevi like many said to do
- didn’t prematurely trade McCann for Gudbranson
- didn’t prematurely trade Forsling for Clendening
- resigned Tanev, Toff, and Edler instead of letting them go for nothing
"IF JIM BENNING WAS SMART". C'mon it's CapFriendly, not a book of fiction.
Like the Leafs under Burke, the Canucks, seemed to have a poor GM and a bunch of other hockey executives who were poor too, or just didn't have the authority to challenge Benning's decisions.

He was a yes man who was only in his position because he told the owner what he wanted to hear, & continually took short cuts rather than developing the team the right way

If that's the case, I kinda feel sorry for Benning, working for such a poor owner. But I feel sorry for the Canuck fans, as it's going to take a couple of years to dig out of the hole they are in.
