The JT deal looks fair to me, except NYI might ask about Walman or Dunn over Schmaltz because those two look to have a higher ceiling. With the price that high though, I'd be hesitant to make the trade as STL. There's an outside chance he'll become a free agent and we could grab him for just cash. On the other hand, our LW is deep and we could really, really, really use JT.

Not sure about the Vegas deal, but maybe I'm misunderstanding. The way I understand it, if STL doesn't protect RFA Paajarvi, VGK can take him, so why would they take Lehtera off our hands when they don't have to? I doubt Paajarvi will get protected - I think the 7 fwds will be Tarasenko, Schwartz, Stastny, Steen, Berglund, Sobotka, Perron (although I'd love to expose Perron and keep Paajarvi).

To be honest, I just threw the Vegas thing in there to make the cap work. Seems like everyone on here is assuming that Vegas is going to want to make a deal for their dead weight contracts. I could see them giving Vegas some picks, but like I said, everyone is wanting/thinking that. As far as I'm concerned with the JT trade though, we have so much roster depth right now that there's no playing time for guys that need it. If we can package a bunch of our surplus prospects for an impact player like this, I'm all for it.
