Description
LA - value is all over the map for Roy, but Olofsson and Iafallo would have *similar* values on the open market, with a decent edge to Iafallo. The fit is perfect though, the Kings are stacked with 2 way forwards and are seriously lacking scoring. The Sabres have a ton of young talented players, but really only Tuch plays a hard two way game on the wing in the future core. IMO the value of the 16th pick covers the difference in value between VO and AI and the 2nd and Roy. I think LA will say it's not enough, and BUF fans will say it's too much.
* Buffalo signs and trades olofsson 3x$4.5 and retains $1mill

Bob is still a very good goalie. That contract is just atrocious. Florida clears 13.8 mill this year to fix their team this year, and 6 mill for the following 3 years to get ahead of Huberdeau/Weegar extensions and new deal for Knight. I've seen Gudas going for a 2nd or a 3rd (often to Buffalo), and Hornqvist going between a 4th or later and FLA paying to get rid of him - so call it a 4th (even though the Sabres will get more than that for flipping him). The Sabres get their stop gap in goal, and can buy him out in 2 years to save 2 mill if UPL/Levi/Portillo are ready to take over.

Assuming Bob waives even though there's basically no chance he would.

I think if we bought him out after 2 years, he would count against the cap ~ $4 mill (~2.6 for Florida) in year 3 and 4, and 1 mill (600k) for the next 2 years

Additional Details:
Not exactly sure how this would work as I'm sure Bob would insist on being bought out before waiving for Buffalo.

That aside, take Hornqvist and Gudas back to more than cover the retention in year 1

Literally no idea what the Sabres would have to give or receive for this to make sense

Sorry but Panther ownership isn't eating $16,000,000 on BOB, And he's not wasting 4 years in Buffalo anyways.

Better than eating 40, and yes I addressed that he wouldn't waive for Buffalo but it wouldn't be wasting 4 years. Itd be wasting 4 years in Florida, everyone on that team rolled over in the playoffs besides him pretty much

Unfortunately Florida is stuck with him for two more seasons, After that he'll be a buyout candidate. But Zito is definitely not giving up anything for him right now.

Yeah that's almost 100% what is going to happen.. but in this case they're not really giving up anything they couldn't replace for a lot cheaper bc they're contenders. And....basically only Buffalo or Arizona could take a deal like this.

The only alternative i see right now is to trade Gudas/Montour and Hornqvist just to get cap compliant and run it back with the same roster minus those guys, and then they're truly screwed cap wise next year with Huberdeau, Knight and Weegar needing new deals.

Pretty much my guesses as well, Gudas/Hornqvist and Montour will be the ones out the door to get a little cap relief.
