Sabres decline both trades imo
1- don’t see us having any interest in Tanev
2- doubt we’re moving Girgensons. He might not look like much on paper, but he wears an “A” for a reason
3- doubt we have any interest in Donskoi either, especially with 2-3 young wingers in the AHL that look to join the roster next year for us. Not gonna have him blocking their path, so definitely pass on him
4- McCann is the only thing you offer up we could have interest in, but not for a 2nd & 3rd & Girgensons.
And even if the compensation was agreeable, it’s hard to see where he fits in the lineup. He’s not good at all at faceoffs, so that takes him out of contention for our defensive center role. And idk that he’s interesting enough to take a spot from one of our talented youngsters who are competing for the other 3 center spots (Thompson, Cozens, Krebs & Mittelstadt)
He may currently be better than a couple of those guys, which is why we might- might- have interest, but from what our GM has been saying (over & over) the plan is to keep developing the kids & find out what we have with them.
Either way, a trade for McCann certainly wouldn’t happen unless the asking price was lowered though
