Description
the Oilers don't have a pick in the 2nd, 3rd, and the 4th round so I was wondering if it would be a good move for the Oilers to trade down from 29 and get a couple of 2nds.

I think Seattle wants to trade into the 1st round with the glut of 2nds they've amassed. Hope they can do better than move up just 6 spots but this is reasonable, for sure.

do you think a swap of MIN's 47th and 56th picks for 29th would be more fair and realistic?

Seattle has 8 players waiver exempt in the organization. Only 4 are signed to contracts. The difference between prospect 29 and 35 wouldn't be that much different. I think they keep all their 2nd rd picks and add to their prospects.

The deal you proposed was fine . . . just seemed like a draft day deal that Seattle might make if they were worried a player they really want won't be there at 35, that kind of thing. If I'm Seattle, I would offer 35 and their 3rd Rounder, though. With three 4th Rounders the Kraken can trade up there, too!

I think the other trade you proposed would be a steal for MIN, personally.

I agree, if trading up to acquire another 1st rounder, I would hope Seattle could do better than 29th. But to your 1st point, the 4 guys they might pick in the 2nd round likely won't be given contracts until close to the end of the season, at the earliest, so that does nothing to add to their list of waiver exempt players for the minors, etc. that I assume you think would be beneficial so they can call up and send down without risk of losing, etc (?).

From last years draft, only Beniers and Evans (who was an overage player) have been signed thus far. There a number of ways to grab some players on ELC's that don't involve rushing 18 and 19-year-olds, etc.
