The 2nd year on the deal is the issue. A lot of teams will want that flexibility, and the teams with cap space have no reason to invest any picks in him when they could get a better player for cheaper in FA.

Vancouver fans REALLY need to stop with the "please give us Marino" trades.

Also, as a side, $4Mx5 for Kapanen is way off. He will get 1 or 2 years around $2.5M per to get his play back up.

With Letang resigning probably Marino is expendable. Kapanen will probably walk as a UFA. Look at what Hagel got at the deadline. Miller is a 99-point player. I can see the argument that Kapanen could get between 3-4 million. I went with 4 million to be on the high end.
