Description
GM Pat Verbeek tipped his hand in terms of weaponizing cap space at the deadline this season (i.e. the foiled Dadonov trade), here's some scenarios that could prove to be very beneficial to the team's current and future roster construction. My goal was to make next year's roster as optimal as possible while simultaneously having as many cards in the 2023 draft. This is less about actual transactions and more about spending Anaheim's absurd cap space (currently $39.5 million, could go up even more with Gibson/Comtois trade(s)). I would be beyond ecstatic if the Ducks' offseason even barely resembles what I've outlined below. Will it? No.

I also threw in Korchinski and Howard as Anaheim's 10th and 22nd overall selections hehe.

This trade is assuming that Calgary is able to re-sign Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Kylington, Mangiapane, etc. I'd also target Colorado in a salary dump trade (i.e. Erik Johnson).

Would the Ducks be willing to trade Terry with Necas as the starting piece?

It's probably also important to note that an integral part of GMPV's offseason is extending Terry, Zegras & Drysdale. Part of my criterium when doing this was any salary taken on in trades would only be for the upcoming season, with the only exception being Petr Mrazek. Any extensions made this offseason to the aforementioned players would kick in after the 2022-2023 season, when Lucic, Monahan, Shattenkirk & Klefbom all reach free agency. That leaves Anaheim with ample room to extend at least 2 of the 3 extension candidates to long-term deals, with additional cap being freed up the season after in the form of Henrique, Silfverberg and Mrazek. How'd I do?

I'd find it unlikely, I only threw Necas in since there's rumours circulating around that Carolina might be shopping him/Bear.

I'm sure they would, just didn't want to go down the "Gibson for Mrazek & Nylander" rabbit hole
