See that Pitt trade on here all the time. Very middling return for Miller IMO. I would hope for more quality in a Miller trade in the way of an A prospect or young roster player with more potential than these middle of the lineup players.

Yea, I don't disagree. Tbh, I rate a Marino more highly than a Joe Morrow/Nils Lundkvist/Vincent Iorio because he is ready now, fits the age group of the core and on a decent contract. I think Miller to PIT has legs because of the increasing likelihood of Malkin not signing. I could prefer a Poulin to a Kapanen and the 1st this year is a must.

I get why people like Marino, but he’s pretty average. He fills a need and is the right age but others may ultimately have a higher ceiling.

Totally fair. I'm not super high on him either. I do think he improves the defence though and provides Quinn with a stable partner for at least the next 5 years (starting this year). Whereas those higher ceiling prospects may not be viable partners for Quinn until 23/24 or 24/25, I guess I am a little impatient and want VAN to compete for a playoff spot this year

I think we are taking a step back this year, but I could be wrong. Alvin is looking to maximize value in trades for the short term IMO and that may end up being high picks and v good prospects. We will see.
