Description

Per Tarik el-Bashir's latest mailbag in the Athletic, Backstrom is pushing to not only play again but play this year in the regular season. This would obviously change up the caps' plans quite a bit. Don't think it will happen, but interesting to think about if it does.

Goalie is still a priority. Paying big for Kuemper is better than also giving up assets for Gibson. Miller is the obvious addition given he is not only a great player but up for an extension at the end of the year, giving them flexibility with Backstrom's contract. A Samsonov/Puljujarvi swap once again makes almost too much sense for both teams (if the caps get over their hatred of finns lol). Irwin or an Irwin type comes back as a 7d. Taxi squad is for all of the callups that would be up when Backstrom/Wilson/Alexeyev are on LTIR.

He is a young, very good defensive winger who is not a great finisher and has a super high draft pedigree. That has value, especially given how relatively cheap he will be to acquire and extend
