Description
Just putzing around with some ideas and trying not to go back to the same ones that keep popping up on ACGM. Let me know how stupid you think this is!

TRADES
-I like Bailey for Labanc on paper - both players have 2 years left at very similar cap hits, and the Sharks get an advantageous pick swap for giving up the younger player. Feels like both dudes thrive with a change of scenery.

-Brossoit is more or less negative value with Lehner and Logan Thompson signed, and Vegas needs to clear cap. Hague is worth something though, so they get a 2nd a couple years from now for him and the Brossoit cap dump.

-Now that Brossoit is here, time to find a new home for Varly and his $5M. His M-NTC will make it tough but changing his home arena from Elmont to Newark feels like something he wouldn't have bargained against. Jersey send back Ryan Graves since they have a lot of young LD prospects to work into the lineup, and gets a pick swap & a long shot prospect for their troubles.

-MDC is done in NY, let him get a chance to play close to home while the Islanders bring a good Island boy back in the fold to see if he can develop a little more (this is mostly a goof and done because I wanted the non-roster part of the Long-Term Outlook page be symmetrical).

No major signings - I think shoring up the defense and seeing some positive regression will be a huge step up for this club. I like the idea of rotating Bellows/Martin/Czarnik/Clutterbuck on the 4th line depending on the opponent; I also don't mind signing a guy like Chara to be 7th D (but *only* 7th D) and letting Salo get regular ice time to develop in the AHL.

Devils accept. Not sure what prospect we'd want but I'm not sure it matters

What's going on with Dal Colle? Looks as though he was getting his opportunities early on, doesn't look like he has what it takes to stay with the big club. Maybe a change of scenery would be good for him. who knows.

I'd personally prefer to just keep Duszak. He hasn't made the jump yet, but his AHL numbers are improving every year.

honestly think a lot of it boils down to the Islanders not having the best development system for their forwards (as i like to joke, the only way Brent Thompson can make a good forward is by getting his wife involved). when you look at the Isles forwards, the ones who have succeeded recently are the ones who haven't spent a ton of time in Bridgeport: Barzal (0 AHL games) & Beauvillier(3 AHL games) pretty much avoided him, and the older guys (Nelson/Lee/Bailey) all played their AHL games before Brent's time. But recent guys like MDC, Kieffer Bellows, and Oliver Wahlstrom have all run into some roadblocks after spending a decent amount of time in the AHL - not sure why no one else involved in Islanders' management seems to notice this trend.
