Description
Keeping it very simple. Want to go with 11-7 to start the year just to give opportunity to the young d since waivers is an issue it's coming down to decision time for both niemelainen and samorukov.
Since starting the year on ltir looks unavoidable I saved some cap space for deadline and in season flexibility.
Holloway is on the brink of making the team but I'm letting him get rolling with high end minutes in Bakersfield will be first call up option.

Barrie on the 1st pair? Doesn't seem likely... with the cap space Holland has I'm sure there will be some actual improvements to the roster. I don't consider Kessel an improvement. I mean, we know that he's serious about re-signing Kane and there's smoke around Giroux, so I think we'll see at least 1 more top-6 forward added.

And Campbell at 5 x $5M is just about a foregone conclusion.

I'd rather Talbot in part he's won a playoff series also cheaper lower term commitment.
Kessel just brought in to help depth scoring.
Kane I heard we offered 4.75 x 3 that seems miles apart from his expectations in my ideal offseason I'd be willing to budge on the money side but not the term so I didn't go threw with that signing. Don't want to make any large investment that overlaps Leon and Connor that goes for both Campbell and Kane. Risk vs reward both carry too much for me in this situation. With giroux he's been an Eastern guy his entire career there is just as much smoke in Ottawa as there is here if not more he's from there and they seem to be going out of the way to spend money now with the change in ownership not a team I want to be getting into a bidding war with at 34 years old. Again risk vs reward. I'd like to see focus continue to be on internal growth. I'm not aiming for a division tittle or presidents trophy just to be in a playoff spot come deadline when we can determine and address needed holes.
Oh almost forgot reason I set the blue line pairings the way I did is reunite nurse and Barrie very mobile pairing advance puck up ice fast. Wanted kulak with bouch because bouchard isn't exactly fleet of foot out there and wanted someone that xan win races to defensive zone on that pair. Broberg want paired 5-5 with ceci for fairly obvious reasons he's the only right shot we got that trust playing with a rookie keeps things simple doesn't cause much chaos.
