imo they should not be trading major assets for a rental of any kind. wish they'd gotten pacioretty but it is what it is at this point. i like milano as a hometown guy and bet on upside.

in all honesty no LD free agents that are left are really moving me and everyone available via trade's cap hit is too high for my liking so i'm in favor of them just running salo out there.

you may be thinking -- bagelbob, this is not a cup contender! and to that, you would be most likely correct. that said, i'm of the mind that we should not be dealing major assets to acquire any rental player (kane, tarasenko). it would have been in our best interest to acquire a long-term piece like debrincat or fiala but again that ship has unfortunately sailed. probably we miss the playoffs, sell varly and mayfield for good returns at the deadline and then fire lou and hire eric tulsky to be the next GM. boom, franchise saved.

i think they will fire him if we miss the playoffs again, he's actively downgraded the team over the past two years and the other teams are just getting better. don't think a full rebuild is necessary but they need someone a bit more creative and progressive to attract talent to this market, can't just rely on targeting big UFAs because as we've seen, they don't want to come here. the team is really going to struggle to maintain its foothold in the market if the rangers and devils are both good and we're terrible again, and i think the owners know that.
