Description
This looks like a pretty decent team considering what the Canucks have to work with. They also still have players like Glass, Juolevi, Demko, Dahlen, Milano, Joseph, Virtanen, Dansk and Gaudette developing in the AHL, junior and college. They also have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds of 2018 to add more prospects.

  2. 2018 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Labate, Joseph
  2. Sutter, Brandon ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Edmonton gets Sutter to centre their third line, provide leadership and help out their penalty kill, Labate can push for a spot on their fourth line. The Canucks get a young forward who has shown potential and can play in their bottom six as well as a decent draft pick.

VAN
  1. Callahan, Ryan
  2. Stephens, Mitchell
  3. 2018 1st round pick (TBL)
  4. 2018 2nd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:

TBL
  1. Tanev, Christopher
Additional Details:
Tampa solidifies their top four with the addition of Tanev and now look to be one of the best teams in the league, they also gets rid of Callahan's horrible contract. The Canucks acquire a young d-man who can push for a spot on their team in Koekkoek, a young forward who could be a great third line in Stephens, two draft picks and Callahan who despite his contract is still a decent player.

Vegas gets a decent fourth liner in Dorsett and four other players whose contracts all expire within a year or two and maybe one of them could end up being a decent player and a 3rd round pick.

Why is LV taking on 5 contracts for free? Your justification is weak.

Vegas has nowhere near the 50 contract limit and I doubt that they will for a few years. Laplante, Sautner, Stewart and Cederholm could all play for the Chicago Wolves next year and wouldn't count against the cap and all of their contracts except for Laplante's expire at the end of the season. Basically they are getting a 3rd round pick and 4 ok minor leaguers to help out the Canucks at no cost to themselves.
