Description
There might be a few small inaccuracies but this ACGM is to show what could have been the roster with Dorion making the right moves instead of self-sabotage

I had to "create" Chychrun" as I couldn't trade for him for some reason. Use the assets spent on DeBrincat to get him (or others like the 2023 first, etc)

For Bjorkstrand I took random but similar picks

The 2nd line is a matchup line that can go against any offensive line

Connor Brown in Ottawa might have never been hurt because of the "butterfly effect". He doesn't ask for a trade because his linemate and buddy Nick Paul was kept. Might even consider a hometown discount to stay in Ottawa after the season

They would have had cap space to sign another top-9 forward and let Greig develop the whole season in the AHL

Batherson is of course a fixture on PP1. Sanderson plays on both special units. 3 solid pairings allows to roll them at even strength

Why does Paul sign that in Ottawa?

This team is only marginally better than the real life team. And I doubt Gustavsson puts up anywhere near his current numbers playing in Ottawa.

He loved playing in Ottawa, the only reason he didn't sign is because Ottawa didn't want to sign him.

IIRC the rumored contract Paul's camp countered with was 3.25 AAV x 5 years and Dorion didn't want to go that far (lol)

This is a detail (100K$ difference) I didn't think was worth mentioning

That's because hockey fans in general don't value 2-way ability enough. That team is much much better defensively, it's not even close

And Gustavsson is also much better in ability than Talbot, Dorion wanted a proven goalie but the problem (like it has been since Duchene acquisition) is he doesn't understand his roster flaws.

Paul makes about 6,000,000 less that way that's REAL MONEY to a guy who has made less than 9,000,000 in his career. Reason he signed as cheap as he did with TB was the length
