Description
Feel free to fire away. Not sure I completely buy the Lafreniere trade myself. But his play of late, coupled with the Defensive lapses against the Devils, definitely got my attention.

Rangers expected to have nearly $7M in accrued Cap space by the TDL, to make up the current deficit.

Kravtsov needs to continue his upward trend of play to make the Front Office more comfortable.

Trading Laffy somewhere else than MTL will be a loss in itself, given that MTL would probably offer more than any other team. (in my opinion)

Yes, the Lafreniere to Montreal chatter is nonstop.

A) What do you think Montreal would offer for Lafreniere?

B) Would you accept it? And if not, what would be your counter offer?

I have a trade offer:
Laffy + Garand + NYR first 2023 to MTL
for:
Xhekaj, and Evans + (MTL or FLA whatever gives NYR Will Smith)
Evans is a cheap bott 6 guy with some wheels.
Xhekaj is a big physical guy (what NYR wished Hajek to be)
MTL can save Laffy and they get a good goalie prospect as well.

I'm not sure that is on the table, but I think it is fair. He plays with Caufield and Suzuki, he has a step up to Dach. Dach should play 2nd line with PLD, when they get him.

I do like Xhekaj. And the Top 10 Pick is definitely the biggest sell.

It's just impossible to really gauge the proper trade value for Lafrenière. His underwhelming production lowers his value. Yet, the 1st OA pedigree that everyone still wants to unlock (whether it be the Rangers, or any team looking to swoop in and grab him), still brings relatively high value.

My gut tells me to hold onto him and be patient. But he's just absolutely invisible out there.

Kakko didn't put up high point totals, either. But you saw the solid Defensive play improve by year 2. And then you saw his overall puck possession improve dramatically by year 3. Other portions of his game took off, and it gave the fans confidence as they waited for the Point totals to follow.

Lafrenière isn't showing anything. There isn't one particular thing he's doing to take your attention away from his lack of Offensive production. That's what's most troubling.

This was in a if to sell scenario, biggest problem with Laffy the way he plays hockey it is either top 6 or not at all. He says he doesn't care where he plays and about production, but it is clear this is a player that need production to keep his head in the game. His confidence is very low, and he is overthinking the game...
He also needs to play with fast players, in MTL he would, especially if they would give up a lot to get him.
