I think the value of Barkov over Strome outweighs Deangelo over Yandle. Plus more of a need at C.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyfan5699</b></div><div>I love this idea, but I think the Rangers need to add a bit here
Taking on Yankees certainly takes value away from Barkov, but still Barkov is a top tier player, so that negative Yandle value doesn't do too much
In order to compete with other teams' offers I think the Rangers have to add a young roster player(Howden would be the odd man out since FLA doesn't need D) and another young B prospect, ex Zach Jones or Brett Berard)
I'm not even that confident the additions I put in my comment would be enough, but it moves the dial more haha
I love your concept and hope we can make it happen!</div></div>
I think we have an over abundance in D Prospects, so I am on board with moving one of those on the B tier.
If it's a Forward Prospect, I would be OK with moving a Veirling, Cullye or maybe Pajuniemi.

For
Jean-Luc Dubois - C
2021 3rd Round Pick* - CLB can defer pick to 2022</div></div>
I considered Jones, as well. Some of these Prospects are going to be moved eventually. Not everyone can play. Of their Top Defensive Prospects, I have Jones 5th (Lundkvist, Miller, Schneider and Robertson). Willing to move.

Looking way ahead
Howden, Buchnevich and probably Lemieux won't be here by then.
Kakko needs to start tearing things up to get that Contract.
Zibenejad could ask for more as a 1C if he plays at the same level he has been.
Chytil and Deangelo could be traded by then.

Everyone was prepared for $5M. Even if it isn't under by much, I am much happier they didn't go through some harsh arbitration meeting that could have even been higher.

Not a bad deal
Everyone was bracing for an even $5M bridge. The 200K isn't much of a difference. But considering there was a possibility of going somewhere above $5M per, that makes it great to see.

In my proposals, I go with an OS of $31M over 5. So yeah, that's in line with what he would probably be offered.

If all you got for Schmidt was a 3rd, you're going to get a 5th or 6th from the Rangers to relieve you of Martinez. At best.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_K</b></div><div>I feel like Cirelli is in a good place as the 2C for Tampa so he may not want to sign an OS. But waving a big money OS (1st and 3rd rd pick tier) in front of Sergachev who sits behind Hedman and Mcdonagh for the foreseeable future could work. Also, the mid-range compensation OS's (2nd rd pick) always look like a solid option, maybe go after Cernak who will be a lower priority for TBL. Whoever it is, some team out there better apply some pressure.</div></div>
Rangers personally don't have a 2nd in 2021 to provide that compensation, but I get your point.
Would love to OS Sergachev, but I feel Tampa would make more of an effort to match him over Cirelli. Would leave more holes on D, whereas you still have a 1-2 punch of Point and Stamkos up front if Cirelli gets taken.

I am all for an Offer Sheet, but I think Tampa would match on Sergachev over Cirelli. Sergachev would leave a bigger hole on D, while Tampa could still lean on Stamkos and Point without Cirelli.

Sergy to NYR makes too much sense
I feel like Tampa would match that amount for Sergachev, but not for Cirelli. Not only because Sergachev is better, but with Point and Stamkos still up front, there is more of a need to keep some of their Defensemen intact.

Rebuild year 1
Rangers would decline anyway, but you have the 2nd on the wrong side.
Even if DeHaan is considered better, Rangers are taking on an extra year of Cap space for a player who has suffered through major injuries over the last 3 Seasons.
We would need to be the ones compensated for an extra year of Girardi 2.0

You make that sound easier than it is. They can't even give Johnson away for free, right now.
Lifestyle in a huge Original Six market isn't that bad, either.

Rangers are an emerging Dynasty. Tampa finally won a Championship after about a decade as a contender. Now they're back in Cap Hell, as more of their Stars age. Better chance of getting a Championship with the Rangers than a 2nd in Tampa.

I agree. But you're specifically in charge of making your own team better. If you can improve your team dramatically, without having to pay a premium, then agreements be damned. Strike while the iron is hot.
