Trading Kakko for another RW is a zero sum game. Especially with his play improving, as of late.

    Focus on Picks for Tarasenko.

I just don't see the Pinto/Kakko swap happening. Pinto is a known and proven quantity for the Sens, there's really no reason for them to move on from that for a guy who has simply not been as good so far in his NHL career, and certainly doesn't seem to have the ceiling that was thought at the draft. I have to imagine its in the Rangers best interest to just keep him as a low-cost, effective depth defensive winger with potential to be more than that, because I doubt they're gonna get particularly good trade value from him at this point

Because Frank Vatrano still has another season left on his ticket, I think that it takes a Jake Muzzin return: a current draft year's first, a RW or RD prospect in the system, and a RD or RW prospect from the Reserve List. You're kinda lacking in all three. The current thought is that you're unwilling to trade your 2024 first. That makes the fit with the prospects all that more important, because you don't have a 2025 first, either. And none of your youngsters at our two positions of need is what we would call an A prospect. As to RW prospects, they're all on the RL -- Brody Lamb and Lauri Pajuniemi are too little and obviously Gabe Perreault is too much. As to RD prospects, about the only one you have either in the pipeline or on the RL is Mac Hollowell, and let's just say that he's underwhelming. And don't bother telling me that Zach Jones can play the right side -- so can I, but Anaheim doesn't want either of us trying it.
