Description
What is the goal of the Sabres' TDL? In my opinion it is to continue to let the players we have in the system develop and grow together. They are still in the race for the wild card as is. Adding a veteran defenseman who brings a physical game and some playoff experience (2 Cup rings) is a very smart move. Latest ideas for what Vancouver is asking is a 3rd and a prospect. Buffalo can easily trade that without harming the future in any way. Additionally, adding another forward to the mix provides further depth in the case of injury. I'd love to snag a player with good faceoff numbers.

I am strongly against trading our top prospects or 1sts for the idea of a playoff push. Playoffs will come. We are a building team, our future is extremely bright. Save any desired big moves for the offseason.
Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Murray, Brett
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Murray strongly deserves an extended NHL stint, I think he'd get games in Buffalo. If not Murray swap him for any of our AHL guys who deserve an NHL shot (Biro, Weissbach)
2.
SJS
  1. Asplund, Rasmus
  2. Portillo, Erik [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Asplund needs playing time and I think could fit well in San Jose. Portillo adds a quality goalie prospect to the pipeline. I'd favour the odds of him signing in San Jose over going to free agency

I am coming around to the idea that any big move will be this offseason. Not sure i see the point in Sturm tho.

Also. We all know mittelstadt will not be benched

Sturm is a solid faceoff guy, has term on his contract, can kill penalties, and won the Cup with Colorado which is always an asset. Provides us forward depth.

Maybe, but I'm not wanting anything crazy. These moves add depth and useful players for a low cost.

I hear ya, BUT….
-is Sturm noticeably better than Jost ?
-is Schenn an improvement on the RD we already have ?

These guys are fine
But idk that they move the needle enough for us, compared to what we have now

Sturm is 100% an upgrade over having Jost at center. Jost is a better winger. Schenn is far better than Joki right now
