Holl is a 5th D playing in a top 4 role. Luke Schenn is a 6th D, he's not replacing Holl and thriving in his role.

Why wouldn't he thrive? He does all the things holl does and more, also holl doesn't use his body very often or stick up for his teammates

Because it's a tall ask, Schenn is playing above his role in Vancouver, that's great. He's still not doing better than Holl is in Toronto. On top of that, he would have to go from playing 17 minutes to playing 21 minutes. Schenn's play would fall apart by the time playoffs come around if not sooner.

The Leafs do need someone who brings that physicality but they probably won't have the luxury of getting someone who can do that and allow them to trade off Holl.

If anything the Leafs need a guy who can play big minutes, so that Holl's minutes get reduced. They won't find someone like that though most likely.

Hey homer Leaf-fans, look at some reality here. Schenn is head and shoulders above Holl (hits, blocked shots, even-strength points, etc). Get your stick on the ice and learn how the game is won...get tougher, get meaner, and learn to play in the post-season, maybe you'll finally win a playoff series....finally.

That all said, this deal likely gets approved by the Canucks, however if I were Dubas, I wouldn't trade Holl for Bjugstad. Defense depth is more important in the playoffs than forward depth.
