Description
Barring a trade, I think this is what we see opening night. In a perfect world I'd package Spooner & Vatrano (maybe get Bells in there) to upgrade the #2LW and make room for a guy like JFK, but a year in the AHL will be good for JFK if that isn't possible.

I'm torn on where Pasta goes. I know they really want to make him work on the Bergy line, but I hate putting all your eggs in one basket. Not to mention when Pasta is scoring Marchy is not and vice versa. If you don't believe me, look at the game logs from last year.

Spooner isn't a guy I really want to bring back, but we may need to and hope he performs well enough that someone bites. Its not that he's a bad centerman, he's just not the type of Centerman this system is built on. Give Spooner some PP time (where he does the most damage) and let Backes's defense cover up Spooners lack of defense.

The PP units are very similar to last year. The 1st unit is exactly the same with the 2nd unit getting the addition of McAvoy and Bjork.

It's not a flashy roster, but its better than what we had last year. As the season goes on guys will either get hurt or traded. The obvious choices for call-ups....Heinen, Cehlarik, O'Gara, Agostino, JFK, Zane, Subban & Czarnik.

We'll leave ourselves with roughly $3 million in cap space to make additional moves as the season goes on. I think Sweeney will be looking heavily to upgrade the left side both on offense and defense. At this juncture we just need to stay the course and let guys develop. We have the assets to build a strong team for years to come. The window isn't shrinking like many think and in another year or two we could be cup contenders again with depth.

I think at the beginning of the year it was all Pasta and Marchy, it was Bergeron not scoring!

I like that you tried to even out the lines and I know your not a fan of trading Krejci because of his NMC but I really think we should ship out Spooner for a LHD and I would move Beleskey back over to the left and Bjork on the 3rd line C after moving Spooner then moves Backes back to the first line on the right side.

Marchand - 7 goals in first 25 games / 10 goals in next 25 games / 22 goals over the rest of the season

Pastrnak - 18 goals in first 25 games / 7 goals in the next 25 games / 9 goals over the rest of the season

Bergeron - 4 goals in first 25 games / 8 goals in the next 25 games / 9 goals over the rest of the season

Pasta started out hot, cooled down and leveled out. Marchand started cold and finished hot and Bergeron started cold and played consistent for 3/4 of the season.

It's not that I'm against trading Krejci, its that I'm realistic that it probably won't happen. Based on his comments, his cap hit and skill, I just don't see an opportunity to move him. The closest chance would be EDM (reunite with Lucic) and with the deal they gave McDavid + what it'll cost for Leon, they're no longer an option.

Ok but it's not just goals, it's "production" which includes assists. You are good at examining the stats, check first 25 games and how often Pasta assisted on Marchy and vice versa!!
