It should certainly be enough to get Saros, should Nashville be open to moving him.

I read somewhere on Twitter that the leafs have called on him but nashville was hesitant to trade him.

But the leafs would do well to get out from under Murray's final year and have the stability of Saros for this playoffs + 2 more years.

Otherwise the options are
- buy out Murray and re-sign Ilya
- let Ilya walk and roll with Murray/Woll
- pay off a team to take Murray like we did with Mrazek

I don't think we will be able to afford Samsonov + keep Murray next year.

- I'm not a fan of the buy out as it would be a $2m cap hit on the 24-25 roster
- I'm not confident in a Murray-Woll combo for next year
- I'd rather trade assets for a bonafide starter like Saros than trade assets to get rid of Murray

All that said, when healthy, Murray has been just fine this year....but he's proven his health can't be relied upon to be the starter on a contending team

I would like to think that's not going to be a long term strategy. Maybe Keefe is thinking Reilly-Schenn and just used Holl as a placeholder last night. Not that I love Reilly-Schenn, either...and not that I hate Holl (was nice to see him lay some checks last night, even if Nuge filled him in)...but Reilly-Holl should not be a top pairing when we're rolling 9 deep on the blueline.
