Joseph is better than Foegele, so I have no idea why Ottawa does this.

Presumably for the extra 2 years of contract. Both Foegele and Joseph have been lightning rods of attention for each fanbase's complaints about cap inefficiency this season so I see where the author of the proposal is coming from.

As for whether Joseph is better than Foegele, I'd be curious by what metric(s) you arrive at that conclusion. A better fit for OTT? A better/more valuable skillset? Better perceived defensive ability? Not saying it's unreasonable to believe that, just curious given their comparable offensive outputs and roles.
